All people have negative thoughts at different times. However, when suffering from depression, the person adopts a negative perspective on himself, on the environment around him and on the future. Depression filters thoughts, distorting the person's perception of himself and the situations he is experiencing. The individual may experience thoughts that generate feelings of inferiority and inadequacy, affecting the person's self-concept; since it is perceived as someone unable to face and overcome obstacles. Likewise, they perceive the world as a hostile place, which can result in social isolation. And lastly, they perceive the future as hopeless, which prevents them from seeing the temporary nature of the situation they find themselves in and increases demotivation.
